1. Upcoming SSS/TRIO Events – Only 4 events remaining for this semester!
Check out the details below for our upcoming events this semester. Please note: if you sign up for an event, you are making a commitment to attend and you are expected to be there. We use those sign-up lists to determine how much food to order, what size room to reserve, and how many supplies we need to bring to the event. If you are unable to attend an event that you have signed up for, please do us the courtesy of notifying us prior to the event that you will not be able to attend.

Gratitude Luncheon – Thursday, November 20th, 11 am – 1 pm, Mountaineer Bunker (Mountainlair 2nd Floor)
SSS and the Center for Veteran, Military, and Family Programs will be providing a gratitude event before you head out for break. Join us for some conversation, activities, and tasty treats! End of Semester Celebration for Grads – Thursday, December 4th, 5 pm – 6:30 pm, Mountaineer Room (Mountainlair 2nd Floor)

2. Mountaineer Week Arts & Crafts Fair – starts Friday, November 7 at 11 am
Appalachian artistry comes alive at the Mountaineer Week Arts & Craft Fair. More than 60 artisans will offer unique handmade items and food beginning at 11 am on Friday, November 7 on the Mountainlair 2nd Floor. The craft fair hours are 11 am to 7 pm on Friday Nov 7 and Saturday Nov 8, and 11 am to 4 pm on Sunday Nov 9. 3. “Local for the Holidays” November Arts Walk – Friday, November 7, 6 pm to 9 pm, High Street – Downtown
Main Street Morgantown and the Arts Council of Greater Morgantown are joining forces to celebrate creativity and community with the final Arts Walk of the season alongside another First Friday for the Arts from 6-9 p.m. Friday (Nov. 7) in downtown Morgantown. A showcase of the arts, visitors can explore creative wares from sidewalk vendors, artists and makers along High and Walnut streets, while First Friday venues feature indoor gallery exhibitions and live demonstrations. The Art Lab will also host an immersive pop-up event at 180 Willey Street. For updates on featured artists and event locations, follow @mainstreetmorgantown on Facebook and Instagram.
4. De-stress with LEGO Building - Wednesday, November 12, 5 – 6 pm, Greenbrier Room, Mountainlair 2nd floor
Come build and take home a succulent using LEGO® building blocks provided by the Office of Compliance and Prevention Education. Participants will get to choose from 1 of 9 succulents to build and take with them. Supplies are limited; succulent choice depends on remaining builds. The event is capped at 45 participants, so be sure to Register to attend.
5. Drop-In Tutoring Now Available in the SSS Office – Mondays 1 pm to 5 pm and Tuesdays/Thursdays 2 pm to 6 pm
Get help now! The SSS office is now offering FREE drop-in tutoring for a variety of subjects in the SSS office (G-30 Mountainlair) on Mondays from 1 pm to 5 pm and again on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 pm to 6 pm. Subjects tutored include the following:

6. FALL ISP (Individual Success Plan) meetings
We are scheduling ISP appointments now. Appointments will take place in person in the SSS office. Please allow at least 1 hour for your meeting, you will go over some important information with your counselor. Stop in the office to schedule or call the SSS office at 304-293-6629. For those students enrolled in our SSS Service Learning classes, you must schedule your ISP appointment by September 30th to receive points for the class.
7. SSS Tutor Requests
The SSS office will be offering one-on-one tutoring this fall with in-person and virtual options. You will not be able to request a tutor until you complete your ISP appointment with your counselor. Call the office at 304-293-6629 or stop by to schedule your ISP appointment. Make sure you let us know that you need to request a tutor at that time so we can get you in to see your counselor as quickly as possible.
8. School Supplies Available in the SSS Office
School supplies (folders, notebooks, pens/pencils, index cards, etc.) will be available in the SSS/TRIO Office (G-30 Mountainlair) if you need them. For those who are taking chemistry, we have plenty of goggles and aprons that you can borrow for your lab courses. In addition, we will have snacks, water, and coffee available throughout the academic year.

10. Additional FREE Academic Support
WVU tutoring centers are offering both in-person and online tutoring options for Fall 2025. For details about each tutoring center and instructions about how to receive support, go to: https://tutoring.wvu.edu/.
The Office of Student Success also offers assistance from Student Success Coaches. These coaches will help you stay on track academically. For more information about success coaching, go to https://studentsuccess.wvu.edu/services/student-success-coaching.
StudentLingo is an online platform that offers 20-minute, on-demand workshops focusing on a variety of skills needed to achieve at the college level. You can choose from 50 different topics, and each workshop comes with an action plan that you can download to help put these new skills to work. To access StudentLingo, go to https://studentlingo.com/wvu and use your WVU username and password to log in.
The Student Support Services/TRIO (SSS) program supports WVU and Undergraduate Education as a student-centered environment by providing individualized services to students who are either first-generation, income eligible, or have a learning or physical disability. Based on their needs and goals, SSS assists them with academic accomplishments and social and cultural enrichment so they may successfully complete baccalaureate degrees.
